Impressive, it takes a lot of work to make a cityscape look interesting and you pulled it off beautifully.

Great page! Love that you have the figure bleeding off the page, and nice tilt.
Did you draw these by hand or use sketchup or something. And if inked by hand what pens are you using?

thanks, bill! yeah, everything is by hand. i had reference, but i can't stand tracing models. i think it takes the life out of the work. we're supposed to be artists after all. ;)

i use rapidos, hunt 102s, and some minor brushwork. this piece is mostly the nibs though.

I just saw your reply on another page-

"1 - digital inks are for shithead cowards.
2 - i use brushes, nibs and most of all Rapidos.
3 - i use a heavy stock bristol for paper. "

Still, is perspective worked out by eye or over photo ref, sketch-up, etc.

Probably a mistake (on my part).
Hmm, I send a message with a link, a colorization of your drawing (another drawing).

I want to know if the colors you like and if I'm allowed to color some of your boards. (The Cape)

The link showed the beginning of the colo. but is now finally ;) (In my Gallery)

how did you learn to draw buildings? just using references?
Reply
:iconspacefriend-krunk:
Spacefriend-KRUNK Featured By Owner Feb 25, 2012  Professional Artist
learning perspective plus reference can make a huge difference. also, don't copy the buildings - try to work on them without tracing. Most the buildings in this piece are close to what they look like in Boston, but i bring them into my world. if that makes sense. =)
