WBY 2 page 17 pencil by Spacefriend-KRUNK WBY 2 page 17 pencil by Spacefriend-KRUNK
To clear up any possible confusion over my last Deviation, here is another example of what I was trying to get across when I said that i go loose in some areas and tighten up on the faces.

The background for panel two is loose, but the character is rather tight. Then to punish myself, I went asshole-tight on the last panel. All great achievements from humans originate from a healthy amount of self-loathing.

I'm in it to win it, fuckers. =)

I've found your gallery today and I just cannot understand why haven't I found it earlier. Your inking skills are awesome. And the fact you're doing it all traditionally makes it even more awesome to me, also motivates me to work harder on my traditional inking.

Wow, I saw the finished before I saw the pencils. So Zach you are a traditional artist you pencil and then ink "on paper", a lot of people on here only draw and create digitally. I work pen sketch and then finish in Photochop. Your work once again is amazing to see.

I'm trying to map out how you did the perspective in the last panel, so whelmed.
Its beautifully detailed, its hard to decide witch I like better the inks or the pencils.

By the way...
When you have such a complex setting, like in the last panel, how do you keep track of things in different angles? How do you keep the relation/distance between elements consistent from panel to panel? Do you create the room in some kind of 3D software and use it as reference or do you jut eyeball it... or something else?
Thanks!

a bit of sketching it out and eyeballing it from panel to panel. it's dangerous to use 3d programs - it'll stunt your growth as an illustrator. however, i do use 3d programs for vehicles. don't trace them, just use them to come up with interesting perspective. =)
