More unseen pencils.  For those process freaks out there, you can go back and see what tweaks I made during the inking process.

These Pencils are overkill, Zach. Why do you do that when you're going to ink it anyway??

how is it overkill?   people seem to have all sorts of suggestions for me, but none of them ever do better work than me.   i work the way i work, and i'm happy with the product.   other than that, i can't really explain.

Wow, I never thought of it that way. What about deadlines then? Do you always finished it on time? I mean, finished pencil like this and then ink by yourself, doesn't it take more time??

oh, hell yes!    it takes forever. =)   I've stopped caring about deadlines, and i work on pages until i'm happy with them before moving on to the next.  for the most part, at least.   i do cut corners here and there to speed things up, but i try to stay away from anything that will lead me down the path of being a robot.

Someday you should do a short story, maybe a WBY shorty, that requires that amount of grit there is in your pencils. You don't even need to ink it, because those pencils are that tight, just a little tweak on the value and their done.

Oh ok. I still think you could make a hell of a comic with graphites, but please don't even start if it really leads to your demise.

heh - sorry, that was a bit overboard.   thanks for the thoughts, but i feel very connected to inked work.  pencils don't really interest me all that much.  my work comes alive when inked. =)

It's cool to get a "behind" the scenes look, and be able to compare your pencils to the final inks. All around amazing work as usual, you're killing this man!

Nice! I am fascinated by the fact of how detailed you are even though you are inking your own stuff. I assumed most artist made their final decisions in the inking process

i guess the misnomer is that i trace my pencils.  however, if you compare, i make countless tweaks in the inks.  i just like heavy structure beneath my artsy fartsy ink-slinging.   keeps me on track and i seldom make bad choices that way. =)
